Our Vegetables

Welcome to our sustainable, all natural, family farm website!  The name of our farm, and this website, is the 2811 (pronounced the twenty-eight eleven).  And we are the Durham family.  We got the name of our farm from ...

Welcome

Savannah is our chief vegetable grower. From sprouting the seeds to growing the plants to taking them to market to sell. She loves growing things and always does a great job of getting our garden growing.

the Bible.  Deuteronomy 28:11 says, "And the LORD will make you plenteous in goods, in your children, and in the offspring of your cattle, and in the produce of your ground, in the land which the LORD promised your fathers to give to you." Since we didn't know much about what we were doing when we first started, we thought it would be wise to get God involved in all this farming.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "A work in progress"?  Well that describes our farm pretty well.  We have big plans for our 55 acres and we have made some great strides, but there is still much "potential" for expansion and growth that we hope to get to as the budget allows.  We have this crazy notion that we might actually make money at this venture at some point.  We'll see!

Our family is made up of  my wife (Melissa), and myself, (Matthew) and our three children.  It used to be four but our oldest got married and so we are down to three.  For a brief time I was the father of 4 teenagers! We made it through that and all is well.

Here on our farm we have several different kinds of animals.  First of all we have two guard dogs.  They are Great Pyrenees to protect the animals from Coyotes and such. We have a few sheep, a few pigs now and then, Meat and egg chickens, egg-laying ducks, and honeybees.
